Teacher of the Visually Impaired - Lower School and Secondary positions 

Provides special education to student’s ages birth to 21 with visual impairments with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth.  Develops or modifies curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels.  Works in self-contained, team, departmental or itinerant capacity including homes or child care settings as assigned. 

The Washington State School for the Blind (WSSB) provides specialized quality educational services to youth ages birth to 21 within the state of Washington. Our purpose is to serve as a statewide demonstration and resource center and provide direct and indirect services to students both on campus and in the children's local communities.  WSSB is currently recruiting for a Teacher of Students with Blindness/Low Vision and Orientation & Mobility. This position will travel to and cover the regions of Spokane, Pend Orielle, Stevens, Ferry, and Lincoln counties.

TVI's in Maine are itinerant and follow a school year calendar. Lighthouse for the Blind & Low Vision is currently seeking a part-time Transition Coordinator.  Work days and hours will vary based on program requirements.  This position will be responsible for the overall coordination, organization, planning and direct provision of Transition Training services to youth, ages 14 - 21, who are blind or visually impaired.   

Earle Baum Center (EBC) is a nonprofit regional community center located in Santa Rosa, CA, serving people with low vision and sight loss in Sonoma, Lake, Mendocino, and Napa counties. Located on a beautiful 17-acre rural campus, EBC provides core training (Assistive Technology, Independent Living and Orientation & Mobility) and coaching in group and 1-1 situations. This position is responsible for the provision of Vision Services to children from birth – 21.  Services may be provided in community (homes), daycares, preschools, and school-based settings in accordance with the IFSP/IEP.  The TVI may service each child alone or as part of a team to develop and implement the goals for an individualized family service plan (IFSP) for early intervention (birth-3), develop and implement individualized education plans (IEP) for preschool or school age each child/young adult (ages 3-21), collaborate with other professionals, and serve as a community liaison to ensure quality vision services. Participation in VIA summer programs for school-age students will be at the discretion of the TVI supervisor based on summer caseloads and provider availability.

Works at Iowa Educational Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired (IESBVI) primarily within the Heartland Area Education Association area. Collaborates with Area Education Agencies (AEAs) and Local Education Agencies (LEAs), and using an itinerant model, the Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) provides appropriate support and/or instruction to students with visual impairments, in their local schools, home settings, and community settings.

Our district is in need of a teacher of the visually impaired on a contracted basis.  We are agreeable to paying mileage, and we would also be willing to contract for teletherapy for our two students with vision needs.  In our district, we have one student who is visually impaired (blind) who also receives orientation and mobility services through another contracted service provider.  In addition, we have a second student with low vision who needs services on a monitoring/consult basis.
